The Beginning

When I was three and my older sister, Amanda, was six our mom told us we were going on an adventure. You see she used the word adventure to mask the scary, unknown changes that were about to occur. The day she started to use the word 'adventure' was the day my younger sister, Anna, was born. We were alone with our mom at the time in the days of no cell phones. Mom had to get herself to the hospital and what an adventure it was!

My mom continues to use 'adventure' in the same context. The time we got lost in Ohio and ended up in Kentucky, adventure. Flying out West then driving back to MI, adventure. Crazy off the beaten path vacations in Florida, adventure. Any out of town swim meet or running race, adventure. Moving Anna to New York City, adventure.

In honor of my sisters and my fabulous, brilliant mother, I am writing a blog about taking an adventure. By the word 'adventure,' I mean scary, unknown changes that are about to happen.

This is for my friends, family, coworkers, and Michiganders. This is to help us keep in touch and keep sharing our lives together as Kyle, my husband, and I embark on a big adventure.

love,
